Inundated with information on what you should be doing to improve your health and wellness? Not sure what to believe there is so much conflicting information much out there?

We agree, and that is why we have complied our top 5 ways in which you can improve your health and well-being and it doesn’t involve ‘Crushing that workout’ or how ‘if you aren’t seeing results, then you don’t want it hard enough’….. Enough of the mind numbing youth and inexperience oriented messages, these tips work.

Eat a little more protein

Most of us don’t eat enough and all studies show that eating enough protein means reduced risk of all forms mortality, you feel fuller for longer and as you age reduced sarcopenia, that’s muscle loss to you and me.

Add a boiled or scrambled egg for breakfast or some oats if you aren’t a fan. Include a protein source at lunch time and you are well on your way to improving how you feel.

Get some daylight

Wintertime means that most of us get up and leave for work in the dark, sit at our desks all day with no natural daylight and then when we get home it’s already dark. Lack of natural light plays havoc with our circadian patterns - your own internal unique body clock which helps you sleep, regulates your hormones and energy levels. Prioritise getting outside at lunchtime every day to help your internal CPU work optimally.

Manage your digital diet

We all say we have no time these days and while we are all busier, we are all still wasting lots of time we could be getting onto the stuff that is really important - like relaxing, chatting to family and friends, our hobbies.

The Battery setting in my phone is a wonderful way for me to see where I might (ahem) have been wasting my time as it shows me all the time I have spent on my Apps including my ‘On Screen’ time. Go on - Take a look and you might learn something about how much time you could be putting to better use.

i-phone (Settings, Battery, Battery Usage and press the clock)

Android (Settings, Device, Battery) You can see your app usage only since your last full charge so its not as useful but it will give you a picture of what you are doing

Up your Fiber intake

Great for feeling full, gut health AND brain health thanks to the butyrate. Upping your fruit and veg intake is easy and good for you.

Rethink ‘An Active Lifestyle’

Contrary to popular social media belief and active lifestyle doesn’t mean running around like a Duracell bunny or hitting the gym twice a day for '#Gains… #Fitspo

An active lifestyle means making small tweaks and sustainable changes to up your daily movement levels, improve how you eat and sleep all of which will add up to reduced risk of chronic diseases which have poor diet and lack of exercise as their source.

Have you been sitting for hours working on that report ? Do you forget to get up and move around - put a little reminder at your desk to Move, set a timer on your phone hourly. Every little helps and it doesn’t have to be too hard.
