Autumn Crumble

The apples are everywhere and it is the perfect time for Apple Crumble. Blackberries are also delicious thrown in with it if you have come across any in the shops or on the bushes.


Serves 5

For the Topping

150g flour

80gr butter diced

75g brown sugar divided 50g/25g

Throw the flour 50g sugar and butter into a food processor and pulse until like breadcrums.

Tip out onto a lined baking tray and bake for 15mins at 180, stirring every 5 mins to prevent uneven browning

Cool and stir in the remaining 25g sugar

For Apples

5 med/large bramley cooking apples peeled and cored and cut into thick slices

4 tbsp water

2tbsp brown sugar

Add everything to a pot and bring to a medium heat, stir to mix the water and sugar and gently cook until tender but but mushy

Tip into an oven proof serving dish 10-12” in diamater. Spread over the crumble and cook at 170 for 25 - 30 mins until bubbling and golden

Serve with your choice of cream or ice cream
